MEXICO CITY, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Mexican pilots Sergio "Checo" Perez of McLaren and Esteban Gutierrez of Sauber-Ferrari, placed in the 8th and 14th positions respectively in Germany's Grand Prix (GP) on Sunday, the 9th day of Formula 1 World Championship ran in Nurburgring.

"Checo" Perez lost the 7th position in lap 60, and the last one of the race, while Gutierrez ended in the same position he had when beginning the competition.

Sunday's GP was won by tri-champion from RBR-Renault team, German Sebastian Vettel, who achieved his 30th victory and the first in his native country.

Vetterl was strongly beset by Finish Kimi Raikkonen and by French Romain Grosjean, both from Lotus team, who ended second and third, respectively.

Perez kept within the first 10 and he even reached 4th position in the first part of the race.

At the end of lap 48, "Checo" reached the 5th position, but in the last 12 laps he dropped three positions.

Meanwhile, Gutierrez said it had been a very tough race because since the beginning he fought to improve his position.

"It was difficult to go further because I needed more speed in the straight stretches. I had a reasonable rhythm and I tried to make it as best as possible," added Gutierrez.

Brazilian Felipe Massa, from Ferrari, had a bad beginning and abandoned the race after he went off the track.

The most serious incident occurred in pits zone, where a tire from Mark Webber's car went out and hit a camera man.

The injured man was cured and he is recovering without problem, but the team was fined with 30,000 euros (39,000 U.S. dollars).
