体坛英语新闻:Russia gets gold in duet free routine of synchronized swimming
BARCELONA, Spain, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Svetlana Romashina and Svetlana Kolesnichenko took the gold medal in duet free discipline of synchronized swimming on Thursday at the World Championships in Barcelona.
The Russian duet scored a total of 97.680 points swimming with a piece of the group Metallica.
Russia's Romashina has three medals in duet free routine as she had won in Rome 2009 and Shanghai 2011 with Natalia Ishchenko, while this is her fourth medal in Barcelona after winning the solo and duet technical. Thursday's gold medal is her fifteenth title.
Russia was followed by the Chinese twins Jiang Tingting and Jiang Wenwen who took silver scoring a total of 95.350 points using music from "The Swan Lake". They had took bronze in technical and free duet in 2009 while winning silver medal in Shanghai 2011.
Meanwhile local favorite, Ona Carbonell and Margalida Crespi won bronze medal scoring 94.990 points, swimming with the music of "El tango de la cumparsita". After this medal Spain has 10 medals in the duet at World Championships: five silver and five bronze.
On Friday the Palau Sant Jordi will host the free team final of synchronized swimming.
