ROME, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Massimo Gobbi headed in a last-gasp equalizer to salvage a 2-2 draw for Parma at Fiorentina on Monday in the last match of the sixth round of Italian Serie A.

The hosts had come from behind to take a 2-1 lead with 13 minutes remaining, goals from Gonzalo Rodriguez and substitute Juan Vargas overturning Walter Gargano's opener.

But Gobbi, a former Fiorentina midfielder, had the last word, snatching a 2-2 draw for the visitors in the 92nd minute.

Montella confessed to feeling "great bitterness" as he saw three points were reduced to one.

"There is great bitterness, as overall the game had so many different phases," he said. "In the first half we didn't do well, partly down to the great work of Parma, while I saw a different Fiorentina after the break. We had a different tempo and style, which is why we deservedly went in front."

"It takes experience to bring home these matches. We tried to keep knocking the door down when we should've been patient and a few seconds from the final whistle we conceded a goal," he said.

"You could say Fiorentina deserved the win, but Parma brought home the draw, which perhaps they too deserved," he added.

Fiorentina spent much of the first half on the front foot, but it was Parma who broke the deadlock in stoppage time before the interval.

Gargano, who joined the club from Napoli in the close-season, had an effort from just inside the area that was heavily deflected, giving home keeper Neto no chance.

Montella's team came out strongly after the break though, and eventually drew level in the 64th minute when Rodriguez glanced a corner home at the near post.

Vargas then appeared to have given Fiorentina all three points with a smart finish 13 minutes later, but Gobbi intervened in the dying seconds to deny them the win.
