TIANJIN, China, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The full-capacity crowds made Olympic double winner Ye Shiwen excited to crown on her favorite 200m individual medley at the 6th East Asian Games here on Friday.

China wrapped up all the 5 women's events on offer while Japanese men's swimmers had 2 golds out of 3.

Like usual, Ye finished the 50m butterfly in second place before she bounced back in the last three strokes, winning in two minutes 11.49 seconds. Haughey Siobhan Beradette of Hong Kong, China earned a silver in 2:13.35 while Shimizu Sakiko of Japan came to third in 2:14.11.

"The result is a little bit slower than I expected. But it is OK since I just resumed training two weeks ago since last month's National Games. I want to take this Games as a training session," Ye said.

"I am happy that I found back of myself through the National Games that boosted my confidence. I walked out of the upset in Barcelona World Championships," Ye said.

Haughey Siobhan Beradette, world junior champion in 100m freestyle, said:"I am surprised with my result that I lift my personal best by 5 seconds! It is an unexpected silver medal. But in the next few years, my top target is to study in a world top class university, like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc..." Haughey said.

In the women's 50m butterfly, it was Olympic runner-up in 100m Lu Ying the best, by clinching the title in 26.19, ahead of Kuka Kato of Japan and 200m Olympic champion Jiao Liuyang of China finished third at 26.85.

"It's not a good result, but since I have just trained for several days after the National Games, it's acceptable. To win the sprint event needs the skill of touching the wall," Lu said.

In the other women's events, Fu Yuanhui claimed victory in 50m backstroke in 27.77, Shao Yiwen topped the 400m freestyle in 4:10.83 and China bagged home the gold in the 4X200m freestyle relay in 8:06.06, beating Japan and Hong Kong, China into second and third places.

Kawamoto Kohei and Takayasu Ryo gave Japan a one-two finish in the men's 50m butterfly in 24.07 and 24.41; Ehara Naito and Ishibashi Chiaki added another top two places finish in 1:48.85 and 1:48.91, ahead of Nam Kiwoong from South Korea in 1:50.47.

Xu Jiayu and Zhang Fenglin filled the blank for Chinese men's swimmers by winning the gold and silver in 200m backstroke in 1:57.45 and 1:57.87.

China now collected 11 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals to top the swimming medal table with Japan 4-7-6, Hong Kong, China came third with 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. South Korea had 1 silver and 2 bronzes.
