体坛英语新闻:Fiorentina beat Juventus with stunning comeback
ROME, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Fiorentina stunned Juventus when they stormed back from two goals down to beat the Italian Serie A champions 4-2 at home on Sunday.
Juventus looked to have secured a fifth consecutive Serie A win after Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba found the net shortly before the interval.
But the hosts scored four goals from the 66th to the 81st minute, including Giuseppe's hat-trick and a goal from Joaquin, to turn the table around and give Juve their first defeat in the league since February and their first in Florence for 15 years.
Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella suggested that he never expected his side's win could come this way, and he also marvelled at the uNPRedictability of the soccer match.
"The first half was balanced, we did not manage a shot on the goal, it looked like a locked game. In the second half they did not give us space, then the team found the hope and energy to react," he said.
"I have never seen Fiorentina in such difficulty in the first half, and Juve was good at making the most of their chances. We were never able to score, but fortunately soccer is a wonderful sport and all changed in a moment," he said.
His Juventus counterpart Antonio Conte moaned that something strange and unthinkable had brought about his side's loss.
"I thought the game was practically over, we also had two occasions to score in the second half," he said. "Then something strange and unthinkable happened. We lost a game we have dominated far and wide."
He said a game like this was inexplicable.
"How do we explain it? An explanation would be easy! In 10 minutes all the hard work, both during and before the game, vanished. We managed to allow Fiorentina back into it and concede odd goals," he said.
In the other thrilling game of the day, Torino drew with 10-man Inter 3-3 at home.
The visitors were reduced to ten men with only six minutes into the game when Samir Handanovic was shown a red card for a vicious foul on Alessio Cerci who also was awarded a penalty.
Juan Pablo Carrizo who just came on to replace injured Inter goalkeeper Mateo Kovacic, parried Cerci's penalty-kick with his first touch of the kick.
Alexander Farnerud's debut Serie A goal in the 21st minute put Torino 1-0 ahead, and Fredy Guarin equalized for Inter in the stoppage time of the first half.
The hosts went ahead again in the 53rd minute, this time through Ciro Immobile, to which Inter responded with two goals, both from Rodrigo Palacio in the 55th and 71st minute respectively.
Nicola Bellomo salvaged a point for Torino in the 90th minute with a goal from free-kick.
Jorginho scored two second-half penalties as Verona came from behind to beat Parma 3-2.
Fabrizio Cacciatore put the hosts ahead in the ninth minute before goals from Marco Parolo and Antonio Cassano gave Parma a 2-1 lead after 25 minutes.
Jorginho equalized on the hour mark and the Brazilian then earned and converted his second spot-kick two minutes from time to hand Verona their fifth win of the campaign which took them up to fourth in the table.
Lazio's struggles continued as they returned from Bergamo with a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta.
Luca Cigarini put the hosts in front before the interval, but when Brayan Perea leveled during Lazio's brightest spell of the game, Vladimir Petkovic's men looked favorites to go on and find a winner. However, it was German Denis who scored next, sealing Atalanta's fourth win of the season and taking them above AC Milan and their hosts into seventh.
Substitute Nicola Pozzi's stoppage-time penalty handed Sampdoria their first win of the campaign as they beat Livorno 2-1.
Alberto Gilardino scored twice as Genoa withstood a second half onslaught to earn a 2-1 win over Chievo, and Sassuolo beat fellow strugglers Bologna 2-1 to celebrate their first-ever win in Serie A.
