BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's teenage sensation Yan Han become the first ever Chinese male skater to win an ISU Grand Prix title at Cup of China on Saturday.

The 17-year-old made a bit of smart changes to his elements following a two-footed landing on his opening triple axel and a fall on his late triple lutz, which resulted in a fairly high 155.48-point free skate of Yan and a title winning total score of 245.62 at the 2013 Cup of China figure skating GP.

China's previous impressive GP results were recorded by Li Chengjiang at the 2004 Cup of China and Song Nan in France two years ago.

Yan edged Maxim Kovtun to the second place though the Russian finished his free skate with a leading 156.81. Japan's Takahiko Kozuka, who was the runner-up in the 2011 world championship, settled for the bronze medal with a distant 226.92 total score.

Denis Ten, the pre-tournament favorite from Kazakhstan who grabbed a silver at the 2013 worlds, finished fourth on 224.80, although the 20-year-old improved to the third in men's free skate classifications.

The other two Chinese skaters Song Nan and Wang Yi ended in bottem two with 196.80 and 185.22 points respectively.
