BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Stephon Marbury and Sun Yue had a good start working together as they helped Beijing Ducks record a road victory over Xinjiang Guanghui 106-98 in the 2013-14 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league tip-off week on Sunday.

Marbury scored 20 points and dished out seven assists. Sun Yue had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in his first CBA game since 2004. Randolph Morris finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

During the CBA transfer window, the capital team recruited four players from Aoshen, including Chinese national player Sun Yue, making them the main challenger to Guangdong Hongyuan in CBA new season.

Beijing almost wasted a 25-point lead built during the third period, as Xinjiang's Lester Hudson, who was recruited just several days before the match kicked off, scored seven consecutive points to narrow the deficit within 10 points.

With 1:16 remaining, Zhai Xiaochuan made a three-pointer from the left shooting line to secure the victory for Beijing.

"Our players had too much pressure to miss many opportunities," Xinjiang head coach Cui Wanjun said.

Hudson, 2011-12 CBA's scoring champion when playing for Qingdao Doublestars, needed more time to fit into the new team as he missed the first six shots, only scoring 14 points.

Last season's runner-up Shandong Gold rallied from a 15-point deficit in the last 12 minutes to beat Jiangsu Dragons 97-93.

Only two Shandong players had double-digit points. Pooh Jeter had a game-high 40 points. Li Jingyu helped with 21 points.

Shandong opened the fourth quarter with eight consecutive points, which saw Jiangsu's advantage narrowed little by little. With just one minute left, both teams tied at 88.

Then Jeter had a three-point play to help his team lead for the first time since the first period.

Shanxi Fenjiu, which was acquired by Fenjiu Group on Friday, lost to hosts Tianjin Ronggang 97-88. Marcus Williams, who had his first CBA game after a six-month suspension due to being tested positive for marijuana, missed all six attempts behind the arc, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

In Sunday's other games, Shanghai Sharks edged Fujian SBS 117-113, Dongguan Marco Polo lost to Foshan Long Lions 107-97, Liaoning Hengye beat Zhejiang Guangsha 105-101, Buyi Fubang uppered Jilin Northeast Tigers 103-90 and Zhejiang Chouzhou crushed over Qingdao Doublestars 129-95.

In Friday's season opener, defending champions Guangdong Hongyuan routed of promoted Sichuan Jinqiang 120-67 to create the largest points gap in CBA's season opener for the past 19-year franchise history.
