体坛英语新闻：Rousseff congratulates Brazilian champions Cruzeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has sent her congratulations to Cruzeiro after the Belo Horizonte side won their first Campeonato Brasileiro title for a decade.

The championship was secured with four matches remaining after Cruzeiro's 3-1 away win over Vitoria on Wednesday, the club's 23rd victory from 34 matches this season.

Rousseff, an avid fan of bitter city rivals Atletico Mineiro, graciously acknowledged the feat on Twitter.

"I want to congratulate the fans and players of Cruzeiro for their third Campeonato Brasileiro. It was fully deserved," Rousseff wrote.

Cruzeiro, who previously won the title in 1966 and 2003, will lift the trophy in front of their home fans against Bahia at the Mineirao stadium on December 1.
