体坛英语新闻:Juventus beat Livorno to go top of Serie A
ROME, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Juventus leapfrogged Roma to reach the top of the Serie A standings on Sunday when they beat Livorno 2-0 to extend their winning streak to five games.
Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez scored in the second half to move Juventus in the standings two points clear of Roma, who will play Cagliari at home on Mondays night.
Juventus head coach Antonio Conte praised his players' commitment.
"I liked the performance today, as in this type of game after Real Madrid, Napoli and international duty, a tiny bit of arrogance or complacency can sneak in, but they resisted that," he said.
"We risked hardly anything at the back and earned a very important victory. It's tough against a team that defends with 10 men and focuses on the counter-attack. At half-time we discussed what wasn't working and did a lot better to find space after the break," he said.
Udinese stifled the threat of Serie A's most prolific striker to take all the points from Sampdoria's visit to Stadio Friuli.
Italy international Giuseppe Rossi has been in searing form this season, scoring 11 goals in 12 league games to lift Fiorentina to fifth, but he was barely given a sniff as Udinese earned a first clean sheet in six games in a 1-0 win.
Fiorentina's head coach Vincenzo Montella explained his side's defeat to Udinese as his men being "too frenetic and losing the joy."
The Viola were dominant for long periods at the Stadio Friuli, but were still beaten 1-0 and risked conceding several more on the counter-attack late on.
"We didn't play a good second half after creating chances that we should've taken," Montella said.
"We were too frenetic and that did not allow us to play our usual style of football. We weren't playing as a team unit and lost the joy of passing the ball around, which is something this side needs," he said.
Inter were held to a 1-1 draw at Bologna, a game that left Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri upset.
"We created even more chances than usual. It looked like the goal was cursed and in these situations you can even lose," Mazzarri said.
"We had a series of naive errors on Bologna's goal and it made the game an uphill struggle. We missed the seemingly impossible, but that is football and if you don't take your chances then you don't win," he added.
Lazio defender Lorik Cana scored the equaliser in stoppage time in a 1-1 draw at Sampdoria to deny Sinisa Mihajlovic a winning start to his tenure as Sampdoria coach on Sunday.
Torino halted an eight-match winless run in style with a 4-1 triumph over lowly Catania.
Sassuolo clinched their third win of the season with a hard-fought 2-0 triumph over Atalanta.
The win has lifted Sassuolo to 15th position, three points clear of the relegation zone, while Atalanta have dropped to 10th place.
