体坛英语新闻:Boateng extends contract with Bayern Munich
BERLIN, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- German defender Jerome Boateng has signed a three-year extension with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, the German giants announced Wednesday on its website.
"I am really happy. It is a special day for me, allowing me to extend the contract at such a big club," said the 25-year-old on Bayern's website.
Boateng started his career at Hertha BSC where he developed from the youth ranks to the first team. He then played for Hamburg, and English Premier league side Manchester City before moving to Bayern Munich in 2011.
During the 2012-2013 season, Boateng was a regular member of the Bayern team that won a treble of the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League.
His former contract with Bayern expires in 2015 and the extension will keep him at the club until 2018.
Boateng has won 36 international caps for Germany and was included in Joachim Low's final 23 man squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Germany finished third.
