体坛英语新闻:Shaun Murphy won 10-6 over Mark Selby to claim title in Haikou Open
HAIKOU, China, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Englishman Shaun Murphy beat his countryman Mark Selby 10-6 in the final of 2014 Snooker Haikou World Open here on Sunday.
In the first session of the final, the 31-year-old Murphy enjoyed a flying start and grabbed four frames in a row to take the lead. Then Selby bounced back to win in the next two frames, before Murphy expanded his advantages with three straight frames to make it 7-2.
In the second session Selby again started to fight back, narrowing the gap to 7-5 with three consecutive frames. After both side claim another frame respectively, Murphy never looked back to won the last two frames to wrap up the 10-6 victory, claiming the title in Haikou for the first time.
Murphy, who defeated local favorite Ding Junhui in the eighth final, also ousted Graeme Dott and defending champion Mark Allen en route to the final.
