体坛英语新闻：Sharara to step down as ITTF president

TOKYO, April 29 (Xinhua) -- International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) president Adham Sharara will step down from his presidency from September 1, said an Email from ITTF sent on Tuesday to accredited media for the 2014 World Table Tennis Championships here in Tokyo.

According to ITTF, Sharara will be replaced by Thomas Weikert, now deputy president of ITTF and also the head of the German Table Tennis Association.

Sharara will announce his plans to step down from his presidency at a press conference which will be held in the Yoyogi Gymnasium press conference room on Wednesday. He will explain his reasons for stepping down and also take questions from the media on this topic.
