体坛英语新闻:Coach Armin Veh takes the helm at Stuttgart

BERLIN, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Armin Veh returns to his former side Stuttgart signing a two-year deal, the "Swabians" said in an official statement on Monday.

Stuttgart found a familiar face as the successor of caretaker Huub Stevens, who resigned after the end of the season. Armin Veh will take over at Stuttgart as he signed a two-year contract, which keeps him with the "VfB" until June 2016.

Veh already coached Stuttgart from February 2006 until November 2008. During his first spell he was able to lift the Bundesliga title 2006/2007, besides that he led the team in the German Cup final 2007, which they lost to Nuremberg 3-2 in overtime.

"I have repeatedly emphasized that after the great time at Frankfurt there is just one job that excites me. That was from the beginning the job at the VfB, to which I have a special relationship," Armin Veh said.

After three years at Frankfurt and the promotion into the top flight Veh rejected to extend his contract with the "Eagles". However, until now Veh reinforced claims that he is unsure whether he would take a break or to keep on coaching.

The 53-year-old coach signed the contract on Monday but he will officially take over as Stuttgart's head coach with the beginning of July 2014.

"We are glad that we were able to convince Armin Veh. Armin is an absolute professional, he brings a wealth of experience, knows the club and fits very well to Stuttgart," Stuttgart's sporting director Fredi Bobic said.

A disappointing season came to an end for Stuttgart. The VfB nearly relegated into the second division but reached safety at the penultimate Bundesliga round.
