体坛英语新闻:Busy days in La Liga as focus shifts to World Cup Finals

MADRID, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Although the footballing agenda is now in the run to the World Cup finals, that does not mean a lack of activity in Spain's BBVA Primera Liga.

With the season over two weeks ago and the managerial merry go round seemingly over, there has been a lot of activity in the Boardrooms and on the transfer front.

Singapore based businessman Peter Lim officially came to an agreement to buy debt ridden Valencia on Friday.

Lim will clear the club's debts of 320 million euros and has promised to make an extra 50 million euros available for signings, with Porto striker Jackson Martinez rumored to be one of his major targets for the summer.

The situation is not quite as clear at Malaga where the club's owner, Sheik Abdullah Al Thani first announced his decision to abandon the club, because he was not given "enough respect".

The Sheik then made an apparent U-turn and published another message on his social networking site in which he insisted he had "never said I was leaving Malaga or the club. I said I was leaving here."

This confusion comes a week after naming Javi Gracia as first team coach and with Malaga in a campaign to attract new season ticket holders.

There was good news for Athletic Club Bilbao whose young central defender, Aymeric Laporte signed a new deal. The 20-year-old's magnificent season had made him a target for big major clubs around Europe, but his decision to accept a new deal and raise his buyout clause to 42 million euros is a clear sign of his intention to stay with the side which finished fourth in Spain last season.

Atletico Madrid have apparently cleared the way for the sale of Felipe Luis by signing Giherme Siquiera from Benfica. The former Granada player said he had "fulfilled a dream" by joining Atletico.

Elsewhere the Spanish press believe that Spain international Xavi Hernandez will hold talks with new Barca coach, Luis Enrique after the World Cup. Luis Enrique has hinted the 34-year-old will have a reduced role next season and Xavi is thought to have received an offer to play in Qatar.
