体坛英语新闻:Own goal gifts Argentina 1-0 lead over Bosnia & Herzegovina at halftime

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- An early own goal gifted World Cup hot favorites Argentina 1-0 lead over debutants Bosnia & Herzegovina (BIH) in their Group F opener here on Sunday.

The own goal, made at two minutes and eight seconds by BIH defender Sead Kolasinac, was the fastest own goal in World Cup history, beating Paraguay's Carlos Gamarra (2:46) in 2006.

Messi whipped in a free-kick which was flicked on by Marcos Rojo to the back post. Kolasinac failed to readjust his feet in time and touched the ball to the back of the net.

It was also the third own goal made in the ongoing Brazil World Cup. The first one was scored by Brazilian defender Marcelo in the tournament's opener against Croatia and the second by Honduras goalkeeper in the match against France earlier on Sunday. Ironically, Marcelo's own goal was the first goal of this World Cup.

Playing for FC Schalke 04, Kolasinac, 21, is the youngest player on the pitch tonight.

Argentina paid more attention to defense in the first half and the attacking relied just on Messi, Aguero and Di Maria.

The BIH played more aggresively but missed several great scoring chances.

The two sides met once in a friendly in the United States last November when Argentina won 2-0.
