体坛英语新闻:Philipp Lahm withdraws from German national football team
MUNICH, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Captain Philipp Lahm is to withdraw from German national football team after having won the World Cup 2014, his adviser confirmed on Friday.
"I have already told Jogi Loew (coach) on Monday that I will withdraw from the national team. I had this decision during my last season," German newspaper Bild quoted Lahm as saying.
Lahm's adviser Roman Grill confirmed the report of the Munich-born player's sudden withdrawal.
The 30-year-old football player will not play for the national team, and he will only play for his football club Bayern Munich, where he has a contract until 2018, Grill explained.
Lahm, who made his debut in the national team in February 2004, played in the World Cup final on Sunday against Argentina, which is his 113th time to play for Germany.
