体坛英语新闻:Serbia beats Hungary for gold in men' s Water Polo European Championships
BUDAPEST, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Serbia beat Hungary 12-7 (3-1, 4-1, 2-4, 3-1) for gold in the final of the Men' s Water Polo European Championships in Budapest on Sunday night.
The Serbs won five out of the last seven European Championships until now. Hungarians won their last gold medal in 1999. As the world's top power in the history of water polo, Hungarians has won 23 European Championships medals, including 12 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze. No team has a better result than Hungary in history of the European Championships.
Serbia' s Gojko Pijetlovic won the title of best goalkeeper, while Hungary' s Denes Varga was chosen MVP.
Earlier in the day, Italy beat Montenegro 11-9 (1-3, 5-3, 2-2, 3-1) for bronze.
On Saturday, the Spanish women' s water polo team beat the Netherlands for gold in the Women' s Championships, winning with a score of 10-5 while the Hungarians beat Italy 10-9 for bronze.
