体坛英语新闻：South African cricket team records whitewashes

HARARE, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- South Africa cricket team completed a series of whitewash against hosts Zimbabwe with an emphatic seven wicket triumph in Bulawayo on Thursday.

South Africa rested some of their top player who includes captain AB de Villiers but they still made light work of Zimbabwe who curiously left out star batsman Brendan Taylor.

For the first time in the series South Africa won the toss and Faf du Plessis challenged Zimbabwe to bat but the hosts top order batsman struggled once again.

Zimbabwe lost two early wickets and Chigumbura promoted himself to bat at number four and the end showed it was an inspired decision as he went on to score 90 runs as Zimbabwe posted 165.

Sikandar Raza Butt put in some resistance but fell for 30 while Sean Williams also made double figures with 17.

It was always going to be an easy target for South Africa with the bat and they raced to victory in just 27.2 overs but at the expense of Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw and Faf du Plessis.

Opening batsman Quinton de Kock scores 84 runs of 91 balls while Du Plessis made 40.

David Miller and JP Dumny guided South Africa home.

Both teams now turn their focus to the triangular series that also involves the number one ranked team Australia.

The first match will be played on Monday between the hosts and Michael Clarke's Australia at the Harare Sports Club.
