体坛英语新闻:PSG's Motta waits for national duty call from Italy
PARIS, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta, who's left out of Italy's latest squad, said Thursday that he's still waiting for the national duty call.
"The coach is new and he is looking to shape the squad," commented the Brazilian-born midfielder, part of the 2014 World Cup campaign but was omitted by the new Azzurri boss Antonio Conte for this month's international fixtures.
"I'm not disappointed that I've been left out, but if Conte feels that I could do well in his national side then I will be delighted," he said as the Azzurri face their Dutch counterparts in an international friendly on Thursday evening before meeting Norway on September 9 in their first Euro 2016 qualfier.
Motta, a former Genoa and Inter Milan player in Italy's Serie A, has scored one goal in 23 caps for Italy.
