体坛英语新闻：Wizards' Harrington joins CBA's Fujian SBS

FUZHOU, China, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Albert Harrington, with Wizards of NBA last season, will play for the Fujian SBS of Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in the coming season, CBA confirmed on Sunday.

Harrington, 34, has played in NBA for 18 seasons with the teams: Pacers, Hawks, Warriors, Knicks, Nuggets, Magic and Wizards.

In his two seasons with the Knicks, he played the best basketball of his career, but did not reach the play-offs. In 140 games (66 as start), he averaged 19.2 points, 5.9 rebounds in 32.7 minutes per game.

In the last season with Wizards, he suffered from injuries and only played 34 games, with an average of 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds.

Wu Bolan, the new chief manager of Fujian SBS, told Xinhua that her team needs Harrington's skills and experience that are expected to help the team to go further.

"We have no doubt about his capability and he is now recovering very soon," Wu said. "Besides, we also introduce a young point guard, Corey Fisher, from BC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk of the Russian League."

Anthony Guy Corey Fisher, born in 1988, is an American basketball player who averaged 13.3 points and 3.9 assists while playing for Villanova University during the 2009-2010 season in NCAA. He also had full-time experience in European courts, like Turkey, Spain and Russia in the past three seasons.

Fisher's glorious time came in 2010 when he scored 105 points in a single game of Watson Classics. To all's surprise, he shot 23-for-28 from three-point territory.

"We don't need someone talented or someone who could break the scoring record. What we need is to win the game," Wu said. "We had three foreign stars last season. They're all good players but couldn't lead the team to playoffs."

Mahammad Nikkha from Iran, Delonte West from NBA and Will McDonald all played for the SBS last season but the team only ranked the 10th in CBA, losing the tickets to playoffs. The team's head coach Zhang Degui and club's chief manager Li'An resigned after the season.

Wu, as the club's new boss, told Xinhua that J.T. Prada, who had coached the team for years, have come back to take the tough job of head coach in the coming season.

Furthermore, SBS's core local players, WangZhelin and ZhaoTailong, attended the training with the National team this summer and played important roles during the Asian Games.
