MADRID, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid fought back from a goal down to take all three points from FC Barcelona with an ultimately convincing 3-1 victory over the Catalan side.

Barcelona included Luis Suarez in their starting 11 after a four-month suspension for biting, but despite some moments of danger, the Uruguayan looked short of match practice.

Neymar opened the scoring after four minutes with a smart right foot shot after some poor marking, but Real Madrid drew level from the penalty spot 10 minutes from halftime after Gerard Pique handled Marcelo's low cross and Cristiano Ronaldo made no mistake from 12 yards.

Pepe's first goal after 21 matches with a powerful header put Real Madrid ahead four minutes after the break and when Karim Benzema finished off a textbook counter-attack started by Isco and continued by Ronaldo, with half an hour remaining, the writing was on the ball for Barca, who were lucky not to concede further goals on the break.

Meanwhile Andres Iniesta will be sidelined for a couple of weeks after suffering a second half calf injury.

Real Madrid moved to within a point of Barca while Sevilla who played on Sunday, had the chance to move level on points with Barca if they could take three points at home to Villarreal.

It looked as if the points were going to escape them when Vietto put Villarreal ahead 11 minutes from time, but Denis Suarez equalized for Sevilla with a minute remaining and Carlos Baca's 93rd minute penalty completed a remarkable comeback.

Atletico Madrid also moved closer to the top of the table thanks to a 1-0 win away to Getafe through a Mario Mandzukic goal which came on 40 minutes. Getafe were down to 10 men for the last 40 minutes of the game after Alexis Ruano was sent off just before the hour of what turned into a nasty physical game.

Sunday also saw Malaga swamp Rayo Vallecano 4-0 to claim their second win in two games. The match was over as a contest as the home side raced into a 3-0 lead by the break thanks to Samuel, Sergi and Juanmi, while a penalty scored by Amrabat after the break sealed the win.

Meanwhile Espanyol and Deportivo la Coruna drew 0-0.

On Saturday Valencia won their fifth consecutive home game to celebrate the takeover of the club by Peter Lim, defeating Elche 3-1 in a match where every goal came from a corner kick.

Mustafi and Dani Parejo put Valencia 2-0 after just 18 minutes and a David Lomban own goal gave the home side a 3-0 lead with just under half an hour remaining, before Jonathas reduced the distance with virtually the last action of the game.

Xabi Etxeita's debut goal for Athletic Club Bilbao helped them move clear of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win away to Almeria, who have yet to win at home.

Saturday's last two matches both ended 1-1 as Eibar and Granada shared the points thanks to goals from Eneko Boveda and Allan Nyom, while Cordoba, who replaced coach Albert Ferrer with Miroslav Djukic during the week, remain winless despite a late equalizer for Cordoba from Xisco after Inigo Martinez had put the visitors ahead.

Friday saw Celta Vigo defeat Levante 3-0 to ruin Lucas Alcaraz's debut as Levante coach and to keep the Valencia based side bottom of the table.
