体坛英语新闻:Dortmund sink Galatasaray 4-1 in UEFA Champions League

BERLIN, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Dortmund keep their clean sheet as they down Galatasaray 4-1 at outsold Signal-Iduna Park to book a berth in the next round in UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Dortmund shook off their Bundesliga disappointment after five straight defeats when as they won four out of four games in the Champions League's group D. Goals by Marco Reus, Sokratis, Ciro Immobile and an own goal by Semih Kaya were enough to book the ticket for the last sixteen ahead of schedule.

The "BVB" controlled the proceedings against passive visitors from the kick-off. Nevertheless, the spectators had to wait until the 25th minute to see the first noteworthy chance when Sokratis headed a cross by Marco Reus to the woodwork.

The chance by Sokratis was a wakening call for the hosts as Marco Reus broke the deadlock fourteen minutes later. The German international made use of a through ball by Lukasz Piszczek to beat Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera with a nutmeg.

The visitors from Galatasaray staged their first vital sign after the break when Wesley Snijder pulled just wide from a promising position. Meanwhile, the hosts started where they left off as Sokratis doubled the advantage at the 56th minute. Galatasaray failed to clear the ball following a corner so that Sokratis was able to poke home from very close range.

The "BVB" retracted with the 2-0 lead behind and was punished at the 70th minute when Hakan Balat headed home a Snijder corner to reduce the arrears for the visitors.

However, Dortmund remained unimpressed and responded just four minutes later through substitute Ciro Immobile, who completed a counterattack just three minutes after his fielding.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Semih Kaya scored an own goal to round off Dortmund 4-1 victory on home soil.

With the result Dortmund maintain their perfect record in Champions League's group D. Juergen Klopp's men sit atop the standing with 12 points, followed by Arsenal with 7 points, Anderlecht with 2 points and Galatasaray with one point.
