体坛英语新闻:FC River responsible for fan hooliganism: Argentine gov't
BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's government Wednesday said football club River Plate was responsible for a recent violent rampage by some of its fans.
Team management "must explain the incident," cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich said during his regular daily press conference in the capital Buenos Aires.
On Tuesday, about 150 hooligan fans of the team entered the candy store at the city's Monumental Stadium and attacked members of a rival fan group with knives and clubs, injuring two people.
"Team officials are responsible for allowing them access, for the internal control systems, for identifying the persons (involved) and for filing the related complaints," said Capitanich.
On Thursday, River is set to play traditional rival Boca Juniors at the stadium, as part of the second leg of Copa Sudamericana semifinals. The first leg at the city's La Bombonera Stadium ended in a 0-0 tie.
