体坛英语新闻:Peng Jianfeng wins second diving gold at Universiade
GWANGJU, South Korea, July 6 (Xinhua) -- China's diver Peng Jianfeng made it two golds in three days, adding the men's one-meter springboard title to the three-meter springboard won at the 2015 Gwangju Summer University Games on Monday.
Peng, winner in the three-meter springboard in Gwangju, took the lead with ease with superb dives to win with 450.40 points. His teammate Zhang Xinghao clinched the silver with 397.10 points while Briadam Herrera of the United States scored 387.75 points for the bronze.
"I had a steady performance today. I really enjoy the life here, and I like chatting with other friends in the Athletes' Village," said Peng, also a member in the national team in China.
"I don't have specific plans after the Universiade, but I hope I can have more chances to compete abroad," he added.
Peng's compatriot Wanng Ying/Wang Han took the bronze medal with a total of 281.82 points in the women's 10-meter platform synchro as Carol-Ann Ware/Celina Jayne Toth of Canada clinched the gold medal.
Wang Ying/Wang Han, who started to pair up on the synchronized 10m platform just one month ago, earned 281.82 points to settle for bronze at the Nambu University Aquatics Center.
The gold medal went to Canadian Carol-Ann Ware/Celina Jayne Toth, who had a solid performance in the five-dive final to finish with 297.30 points.
Ko Eunji/Moon Nayun of South Korea enjoyed home advantage to score 281.88 points for silver.
"We made some mistakes in the last two dive. I felt sorry that my partner didn't win a gold medal," said Wang Ying, winner in the women's ten-meter platform on Sunday.
"Though the Universiade is not as tense as the Olympics, everyone is till longing for the gold. I hope Wang Han can win a gold in the later matches," she added.
