MATSUMOTO, Japan, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Despite missing two of her key players, China's coach Jenny Lang Ping said her team would do their best at the FIVB Women's World Cup, which kicks off on Saturday.

"We lost Yang Fangxu through an injury she received during the World Grand Prix and also our captain Hui Ruoqi just before we came here due to health problem, but we have got some young players and will do our best," Jenny said Friday afternoon at the pre-tournament press conference.

The United States and China, who finished top two at the World Championship in Italy last fall, were favorites to win the World Cup title according to fans' vote on the FIVB website, while USA coach Karch Kiraly preferred focusing on every game ahead.

"Our team's excited and healthy, and our goal is to try as hard as we can to win the next point," he said. "We think all the other teams are really strong, but we're more concerned with what we are doing on our side of the net. Every team is trying to learn and get better and that's what we're doing, too."

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic seemed to be more ambitious, saying that his team will try to win every game.

"Our target, like every time, is to try and win every game. Of course, it will be very difficult as we will play against the best teams in the world, but this is our target," said Terzic.

Twelve teams will play a single round robin in the Women's World Cup for two tickets to the Rio Olympic Games. China, USA, Serbia, South Korea, Peru and Algeria will take part in the first round competitions in Matsumoto.
