体坛英语新闻:Power cut to Brazil World Cup venue
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sep. 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Arena da Baixada stadium, built for last year's FIFA World Cup, was left without power for almost a day after tenants Atletico Paranaense failed to pay their electricity bill.
Local power distributor Copel said it restored normal service to the venue late Tuesday after Brazilian Serie A club Atletico Paranaense paid off the outstanding amount.
Located in the southern city of Curitiba, the 40,000-seat stadium hosted four 2014 World Cup matches.
Atletico Paranaense are currently sixth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, 13 points behind leaders Corinthians. Their next home match is Saturday's clash against 19th-placed Joinville.
Atletico and Copel did not reveal how much had been owing and the club did not explain the reason for the delayed payment.
