体坛英语新闻:Soccer lawmaker vetoes Brazil bid for video referee
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has rejected a request by Brazil's football confederation (CBF) to allow "video referees" in the country's top domestic league.
The CBF had sought permission for decisions to be referred to officials with access to video replays.
According to local media reports, CBF president Marco Polo Del Nero wanted to adopt the technology for next year's Brazilian Serie A championship.
Despite its ruling, Zurich-based IFAB - empowered by world football's governing body FIFA to preside over the laws of the game - did not rule out adopting the initiative in the future.
"We inform that the CBF will be invited to participate in any future trials of this nature if IFAB agrees to conduct them," the body's secretary general, Lukas Brud, was quoted as saying by newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
