体坛英语新闻:Extradition hearing for Jack Warner adjourned until February
PORT OF SPAIN, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- A hearing into the potential extradition of former FIFA Vice President Jack Warner to the U.S. was adjourned once again on Wednesday, with the court pushing the hearing back to February 19, 2016.
The decision was taken after Warner's defense team petitioned for an extension last week. They also petitioned for a new judicial review of the entire extradition process. The reason for this review, states Warner's legal team, is that the authority to proceed ruling made by Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi in September 2015 is null and void.?
A further reason for the extension is that Trinidad and Tobago's Chief Magistrate, Marcia Ayers-Caesar, is in Washington DC with Chief Justice Ivor Archie and High Court judge, Malcolm Holdip, for a conference entitled "Alternatives to Incarceration for Drug-Related Offences", according to Trinidad Express.
The U.S. is seeking the extradition of Warner after issuing an arrest warrant for him, accusing him of "wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering" during his time as a senior FIFA executive.
