体坛英语新闻：Benitez: there is a campaign against us

MADRID, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez on Tuesday accused the press of carrying out an organized campaign against himself and club President, Florentino Perez.

The coach was speaking ahead of Wednesday's home game against Real Sociedad, which according to the Spanish press his side needs to win in order for him to keep his job.

The match comes after a week in which speculation has increased that Benitez is on the verge of the sack whatever happens with Jose Mourinho lined up to replace him, but the coach was bullish when asked to his future.

"There is a campaign against Florentino (Perez), against myself and against the team. You can see all of the machinery," he said, before admitting that "we all have to put a bit in, starting with me."

Benitez insisted that during his recent holidays in England, the British press "are not reflecting what is said in Spain.. I am just thinking about beating Real Sociedad," commented the coach.

"We know that we are at a club where everything is magnified. I know how things are and there are solutions. We have to concentrate on our job ... In order to do something in the league we have to be stable and calm, not nervous. The team is quite a lot better than people think and that has to be reflected in our games," continued the coach.

Elsewhere Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique spoke ahead of his side's match against Betis, saying that his club could make more signings in January to add to Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal. "You can always improve your squad," he commented.
