体坛英语新闻:Nigeria invites 27 male basketball players to camp ahead of Rio Olympics
ABUJA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in Nigeria on Wednesday said 27 male players in the national basketball team have been invited to training camp ahead of the Rio Olympics.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) said the 27 team members who made the preliminary list were a mixture of overseas-based and home-based players. The team's training camp will open in Los Angeles or Bakersfield in the United States of America, on June 27.
According to president of the NBBF, Tijani Umar, another player is being considered to join the list but he has not really made up his mind to play for Nigeria.
The player, Victor Oladipo, had been in training camp with the U.S., he said, adding "we learned he has not made their final list, we are still awaiting him".
Nigeria's male basketball team, also known as D'Tigers, qualified for the Rio Olympics having emerged African champions at the 2015 Afrobasket tourney in Tunisia.
