BERLIN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich scored three goals in each half against Wolfsburg to clinch the Bundesliga title ahead of schedule at the 31st round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

Carlo Ancelotti's men set a new Bundesliga record as Bayern reaped the fifth consecutive Bundesliga title after showing no mercy with Wolfsburg, who suffered their second loss in row.

The "Bavarians" started highly motivated knowing that a victory would ensure the 27th Bundesliga title in the club's history.

It took thus only 19 minutes before the visitors opened the scoring as David Alaba curled home a free kick from 20 meters into the top right corner.

Bayern should have doubled the lead moments later but Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels was on guard to deny Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller from close range.

Wolfsburg lacked in penetration meanwhile Bayern continued powerful to make it 2-0 on the scoreboards as Mueller's square pass allowed Lewandowski to slot home in the 37th minute.

The German record champions gained momentum and tripled the lead before the break after Lewandowski wrapped up his brace and his 28th goal of the season following Kingsley Coman's build-up work.

The "Wolves" showed a vital sign after the restart when Riechedly Bazoer missed a cross to the far post narrowly with two minutes into the second half.

However, Bayern started where they left off as Arjen Robben extended the lead after slotting home from the edge of the box into the near bottom corner with 65 minutes played.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Luiz Gustavo received his marching orders after seeing his second yellow card for a foul play in the 78th minute.

The visitors were not done with the scoring and benefited on their numerical advantage as Thomas Mueller and Joshua Kimmich rounded off the 6-0 victory, and the 27th Bundesliga title.

"I am really happy after this difficult period in the last weeks. We deserved to win the title. I want to thank the club for this fantastic experience here. Now its time to celebrate," Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

Elsewhere, runners-up Leipzig opened the door for Bayern's title defence as the "Bulls" were held to a goalless draw by relegation threatened Ingolstadt.

Third-placed Borussia Dortmund will play in UEFA Champions League next season as they played out a goalless stalemate with Cologne.

Werder Bremen reaped their fifth straight win after beating Berlin 2-0 to set the course for a berth in Europe.

Monchengladbach edged Mainz 2-1 thanks to the goals from Lars Stindl and Nico Schulz and last-placed Darmstadt shocked Freiburg 3-0 to avoid their relegation ahead of schedule.

The following fixtures are scheduled for Sunday: Augsburg host Hamburg and Hoffenheim encounter Eintracht Frankfurt.
