体坛英语新闻:South Korea secures two berths in Indonesia Open Super Series finals
JAKARTA, June 17 (Xinhua) -- South Korea managed to secure two berths in Indonesia Open Super Series finals after their seeded women's singles and women's doubles shuttlers beat their opponents in the semifinals here on Saturday.
No. 5 player Sung Ji hyun stopped the American player Zhang Beiwen 21-10, 8-21 and 21-10 in 45 minutes.
Sung, who had just won the Sudirman Cup with her national team in Gold Coast, Australia, last month, would take on the non-seeded Japanese player Sayaka Sato in the final here on Sunday.
"Sayaka Sato has strong physique and is good at covering her lawn. So I have to anticipate it by improving my body fitness," Sung told a press conference on the sidelines of the match that qualified her to finals.
Her coach, an Indonesian Agus Dwi Santoso who was presented in the session, said that Ji hyun has to improve her control in the middle section of the lawn in the final match.
In the women's doubles, South Korea's No. 3 seed Chang Ye Na/Lee Song he defeated Japanese seeded pair Shiho Tanaka/Kohari Yanemoto 21-14, 12-21 and 21-11.
South Korea placed three semifinalists in the tournament of which one of them, men's singles No. 2 player Son Wan ho, failed to get a final berth after being defeated by Indian player Srikanth Kidambi.
