Badminton World Federation (BWF) No. 3 mixed doubles players Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan initiated China team's success to secure a quarterfinal round berth earlier in the day against their non-seeded compatriots Huang Kaixiang/Wang Yilyu in three games of 15-21, 21-13, 21-13.

China's Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, seeded fourth, brushed aside their non-seeded contenders Wang Chi Lin/Lee Chia Hsin from Chinese Taipei in three games, winning by 21-12, 17-21, 21-16 into the mixed doubles quarterfinal.

Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping, seeded second, overtook Danish contenders Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Alexandra Boje in 21-16, 21-18 to book another quarterfinal slot in mixed doubles.

In women's doubles, world No. 1 Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan from China defeated Malaysian pairing Chow Mei Kuan/Lee Meng Yean in two straight games with a score of 22-20, 21-18.

In the quarterfinals slated for Friday, China's Shu Qi will take on India's Prannoy Haseena Sunil Kumar, seeded eighth, in men's singles while He Bingjiao will match up with another Indian, Pusarla V. Sindhu.

Prannoy defeated China's top player Lin Dan in qualifying on Tuesday.

Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan will meet South Korean players Lee So Hee/Sing Seung Chan in the women's doubles quarterfinal.

The tournament, which will end on Sunday, is contested by the 32 best players in badminton.
