体坛英语新闻:China wins over Thailand, makes it to semis at Asiad women's soccer tournament
PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- China defeated Thailand 5-0 in the quarterfinal of the women's soccer tournament at the Asian Games here on Saturday.
At Jakabaring Sport City stadium, midfielder Wang Shuang, who recently signed for Paris Saint-Germain, made her hat trick through goals in the 32nd, 84th and 92nd minutes.
The other two goals were scored by substitute Xiao Yuyi in 65th minute and Gu Yasha in 85th minute.
Wang said she and her teammates were cautious in the beginning of the match until the first goal.
"We were a bit nervous at the beginning, but after the first goal we were capable to make good passes between players that eventually scored more goals," Wang told a press conference in the stadium on the sidelines of the match.
China coach Jia Xiuquan was off the court, as he was sent out by the referee in the previous match against Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
So far, China has never conceded any single goal during the tournament, including a 2-0 victory over DPRK in their last group match on Wednesday.
In the semifinals, China will take on Chinese Taipei while Japan play South Korea, after Japan beat DPRK 2-1 and South Korea beat Hong Kong, China 5-0 in the other quarterfinals on Saturday.
