ACCRA, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ghana on Friday failed to survive the group stage of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON) which is ongoing in the West African country.
The Black Queens needed a win in the final Group A match against Cameroon played at the national sports stadium in Accra but they were only able to secure a 1-1 draw.
Ghana went into the match three points behind Cameroon, who led the group pecking order with six points and a superior goal difference.
Ghana's Portia Boakye opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Cameroon's Christine Manie equalized through a penalty in the 41st minute.
Mali defeated Algeria 3-2 in the other Group A encounter held at the China-built sports stadium in the coastal city of Cape Coast.
