体坛英语新闻:Table tennis test event held at 7th Military World Games venue
WUHAN, May 1 (Xinhua) -- A table tennis test event for the 2019 Military World Games opened on Wednesday at the Five Rings Sports Center in the competition's host city of Wuhan. Following sailing and tennis events, this is the third simulation test scheduled ahead of the Games.
The competition was organized under the auspices of the Games' executive committee. A total of 186 young athletes from nine districts in Wuhan are set to take part, with three age groups and seven events during the three-day competition.
"I was a little nervous playing in such a beautiful stadium for the first time," said nine-year-old Qiao Wenjin, who plays table tennis at his primary school. "The stadium looks very big and modern. This year, after the opening of the military games, I hope my parents take me here to watch the games."
According to local district chief Peng Tao, who is also organizing the event, this three-day competition would provide a comprehensive test of the venue's capabilities, allowing organizers to identify and resolve any issues before the Games.
The 7th Military World Games will open in Wuhan on October 18th, with some 10,000 military athletes from more than 100 countries and regions set to participate.
