体坛英语新闻:Berbatov: strikers in Man United are good enough
BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov believes the strikers in the English Premier League club are already good enough as the "Red Devils" are looking to bounce back from a sixth place finish in the last season.
"I'm not the coach. So it's not my job to say that. But I think the strikers are good enough. I like them, especially Anthony Martial, because I used to play with him in Monaco. I know how good he is," said Berbatov on Wednesday, in response to the question whether he believes the team need to buy some new front men for the coming new season.
"And I think he can be even better with the right training sessions, with the right attitude, and with the right guidance from the manager Ole Solskjaer. Because he was a striker, one of the best in the world, so you can go easily to the manager and ask for advices like how to score, how to move, how to round. So to be honest, I don't think they need someone new in the front line," he added.
The 38-year-old Bulgarian made such comments when attending the opening ceremony of the Manchester United Experience Center in Beijing.
As one of the world's most recognizable and successful clubs, Manchester United have won the Premier League title for a record 20 times, and have three European Cup wins to their name.
However, the club was relatively less successful last season only finishing sixth in the league standings.
"Sometimes you have good seasons and sometimes you have bad seasons. Hopefully, this season will be better for the team. We have the right guy as the coach and probably we're going to buy some new players to strengthen the team. But overall, I think we have everything we need to go and win the title again," Berbatov said.
Berbatov played for Manchester United from 2008 to 2012, winning two league titles, two league cup titles as well as a FIFA Club World Cup trophy in 2008.
