体坛英语新闻:All-Star guard Lillard withdraws from FIBA Men's World Cup: report
WASHINGTON, July 23 (Xinhua) -- All-Star point guard Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday announced to withdraw from the training camp for the U.S. squad and FIBA Men's World Cup, local media reported.
Lillard joins a growing number of players who, either for personal reasons or to focus on the rapidly approaching NBA season, have decided not to take part in the Men's World Cup with the U.S. squad.
With Lillard's withdrawal, the Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown and the New York Knicks' Julius Randle have been added to the training camp roster for the World Cup, according to the local media.
The U.S. squad has taken a blow after some key players announced to skip the World Cup, including Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), James Harden and Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets) and CJ McCollum (Trail Blazers).
Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) and Tobias Harris (Philadelphia 76ers) also announced their withdrawal from the team on Monday.
The training camp, to be used to select finalists for the World Cup squad, will be held in Las Vegas between August 5-9.
