体坛英语新闻:Why Bayern needs to keep fan hero Mueller
BERLIN, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich fans are concerned about the future of club legend Thomas Mueller and demand to keep him in a good mood.
The 30-year-old German recently indicated he might leave the Bavarian side despite his until 2021 running contract if remaining a replacement. "I am not satisfied," the forward stated, adding if things don't change, he might have to reconsider his situation.
The former German international hasn't been in the starting 11 for the last five games. The part-time striker missed the 7-2 victory at Tottenham in the Champions League and only collected 67 minutes in four national league games.
Coach Niko Kovac is under increasing fire on that issue.
A wide range of supporting comments delivered by prominent faces is ruling the sports headlines aside of possible new destinations such as all leading clubs of the Premier League, the Italian sides of AC and Inter Milan, and the Chinese Super League.
Some speculative media reports speak of Mueller possibly leaving as early as in the next winter break, which seems not likely. English media talk about Tottenham's Christian Eriksen to be on Bayern's watch list as the Dane appears like a bargain rated at 30 million euros (33 million US dollars).
"I am convinced to be of great value for my team," the Bavarian-born professional stressed talking about his ambitions "that are still boiling over as I am only 30."
The 30-year-old is annoyed and doesn't feel comfortable in his new role after Brazilian star Coutinho has outpaced him regarding the first 11. For Coutinho, Kovac changed Bayern tactical system from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1.
Kovac's latest comments increased the tensions after he said Mueller would get its playing minutes "when there is need." The coach might have chosen misleading words but in the end, triggered off further unrest. Mueller reports a crisis-meeting between coach and him has taken place.
Mueller said he didn't expect to lose his place in the line-up to that extent as things worked out well last season, scoring nine goals and delivering 16 assists. Now Mueller is complaining about a negative trend.
German international Joshua Kimmich appears like the spearhead of a pro-Mueller fraction calling him "the biggest identification figure since Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm." It is near impossible to think of Bayern without the Bavarian original, the 23-year-old commented praising Mueller's uNPRedictability.
Mueller, joining Bayern at the age of ten, is one of the rare performers making their way from youth teams to the professional squad. Currently, he is only accompanied by left-back David Alaba.
Mueller is Bayern's great joker and known as an influential factor when it comes to the team's general atmosphere. Fans and teammates regard him as irreplaceable.
Mueller and his wife run a horse stable near Munich and seem to have dropped anchor for life. Mueller might speculate for a pay-rise and is demanding more attention by Kovac.
The forward might take into consideration if Kovac is going to survive as Bayern coach longer than the end of this season. That will highly depend on the success achieved on the international stage. Many say Mueller is a vital factor when crunch-time is approaching in the Champions League next spring.
After the striker was excluded from the German national team by Joachim Loew, the 2014 World Champion seems to be aware there are is not much time left to add some golden years to his career.
