MADRID, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid got a morale-boosting win on Wednesday night when they beat bottom of the table Leganes 5-0 in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

A Real Madrid side that hadn't played at the weekend started a lot sharper than the visitors and they were 2-0 up after just 8 minutes thanks to strikes from Rodrygo and Tony Kroos.

A Sergio Ramos penalty in the 24th minute made it 3-0 and Karim Benzema's spot kick 20 minutes from time made it 4-0, before Luka Jovic's header in injury time rounded off the scoring with his first goal for the club.

First-half goals from Enis Bardhi and Borja Majoral gave Levante, who had won only one game in their previous seven, a 2-1 win away to high-flying Real Sociedad.

Willian Jose pulled one back for the home side two minutes into the second half, but although Real Sociedad laid siege to the Levante goal they were unable to find an equalizer.

Valencia substitute Ruben Soriano scored an 82nd-minute equalizer to give his side a point from their home game against Sevilla.

The side coached by Julen Lopetegui had taken the lead on the verge of halftime thanks to Lucas Ocampos' injury time strike following a set-piece and they looked as if they would move into second place before Soriano's header following Dani Parejo's cross.

Iker Munian scored twice in the first half of Athletic Club Bilbao's 3-0 win at home to Espanyol and provoked Victor Gomez into conceding an own goal late in the second half as Athletic ended a run of five games without a win.

Nabil Fekir's injury time goal gave Betis a 2-1 win at home to Celta Vigo and probably saved coach Joan Ferrer's job until at least the weekend, while leaving Celta's Fran Escriba facing the sack with his team in the bottom three.

Betis took the lead thanks to Emerson's eighth minute strike but after Iago Aspas' 70th minute penalty the game looked likely to end in a 1-1 draw that would favour neither team until Fekir's late winner.

Tuesday saw Leo Messi score twice and set up two goals as FC Barcelona returned to the top of the table with a 5-1 win at home to Valladolid, while Lucas Perez's spectacular solo goal cancelled out Alvaro Morata's opener for Atletico Madrid and ensured the game between Alaves and Atletico ended 1-1.
