体坛英语新闻:Indonesian young lifter breaks world's records at student sports week
JAKARTA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian student-athlete Muhammad Faatir has broken two world records during the recurrent 2019 National Student Sports Week in the country, a statement from the Youth and Sports Department of East Kalimantan province said on Tuesday.
Muhammad representing East Kalimantan province broke his previous world's records in the snatch, and clean and jerk events.
In the snatch event, he raised the record to 122 kilograms from 119 kilograms, and in the clean and jerk event, the lifter broke the record to 155 kilograms from 153 kilograms.
The previous world records were made by Muhammad during the Asian Youth and Junior Championships taking place in Pyongyang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in October.
"These achievements make us proud as there is an Indonesian young athlete breaking world's records twice within only one month. This suggests the coaching is fruitful," Ego Arifin, head of the Sports Development of the province's Youth and Sports Department, said on Tuesday.
The official expected the achievement to motivate other student athletes to step up their capabilities and capacities.
The 2019 National Student Sports Week kicked off on November 17 and will end on November 25 in the country's capital of Jakarta.
