体坛英语新闻:Analysis: Bayern eyeing big names, Heynckes praising Flick

2020-01-09来源:Xinhuanet

BERLIN, Dec 2 (Xinhua) -- Who is going to make the final decision?

Bayern is currently trapped in a power struggle. Two fractions seem to battle it out. Former coach and influential club legend Jupp Heynckes favors current interim coach Hansi Flick as a permanent solution while Thomas Tuchel is said to be the first choice for the big answer.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is step by step approaching the state of a lame duck, having announced his resignation end of 2021. Insiders speak of Oliver Kahn to soon getting involved. The former keeper is taking over Rummenigge's job in 2021 but will join the club in January 2020 to get familiar with procedures.

So far, Kahn has avoided clear statements regarding his plans but is said to set a sign as soon as the right time has come.

Rummenigge intends to leave a last exquisite farewell present behind.

HANSI FLICK

The hype around the 54-year-old could be more prominent as the former national team assistant is said to be a promising copy of Heynckes.

The 74-year-old 2013 treble-winning coach praised Flick as the best choice. "Bayern can shape an era with him in charge," the 1974 world champion said, adding: "Hansi is a real coaching gem."

Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer commented: "Flick is doing it like Heynckes."

Meanwhile, the debate continues if Flick can satisfy the club's ambitious goals, such as to win the Champions League.

Doubts remain, and the 2019/2020 season's outcome might affect the decision next to the availability of fitting challengers.

THOMAS TUCHEL

The former Dortmund coach has been on Rummenigge's list for a while. Admiration seems to be still alive. Things could get done next summer as Paris officials are assumed to be eyeing Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone.

Two years ago, Rummenigge attempt failed to install Tuchel as former Bayern president Uli Hoeness opposed the move.

Media reports speak of Tuchel having lost his faith in the French capital and be increasingly unhappy. Despite his contract running until 2021, a possible deal is not out of sight.

ERIK TEN HAG

The Dutch coach can count on his remarkable work, having restructured struggling Ajax as he reached the Champions League semifinal in 2019.

The tactically gifted 1991 Dutch champion can rely on an in-depth knowledge when it comes to Bayern as he was the Bavarians amateur coach from 2013 to 2015.

However, like Flick, Ten Hag has not been working on the highest level for long.

MAURICIO POCHETTINO

The Argentine's disadvantage: He is no German native speaker. In the past, Bayern always went for German-speaking coaches, and several times club leaders announced suitable language skills are a must.

Bayern's current sports director Hasan Salihamidzic seems to favor Pochettino, but inside reports speak of his declining influence on the issue. Kahn, as Bayern's next strong man, is said not to be a fan of the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

JUIAN NAGELSMANN

No solution for the upcoming year as the 32-year-old currently won't leave Leipzig. Bayern defender Niklas Suele said he is convinced Nagelsmann, his former coach in Hoffenheim, one day will be Munich's coach.
