体坛英语新闻:Baskonia stun Red Star 72-64 to earn sixth win in basketball Euroleague
BELGRADE, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Baskonia from Spain stunned Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) of Serbia 72-64 in the 13th round of the basketball Euroleague at the Belgrade Arena on Thursday.
The home team was full of hope in the beginning of the match, until the third-ranked team of the Spanish ACB league took advantage of their mistakes and built an 8-point lead.
The guest team, led by Luca Vildoza and Nik Stauskas, did not manage to keep the same pace in the second quarter, and allowed Crvena Zvezda's Lorenzo Brown and Billy Baron to even the score before halftime.
Baskonia surged in the third quarter, thanks to great performance of Stauskas, and built a double-digit advantage.
Crvena Zvezda couldn't narrow the gap due to uNPRecise shooting from the perimeter.
The Serbian league champion failed to achieve their fourth consecutive win in the Euroleague, and now have 5 wins and 8 defeats. Baskonia are at 6-7.
Stauskas scored 22 points for the winning team, and Shengelia added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. In the home team ranks, Brown made 20 points and 5 assists.
Both teams will play away next week - Baskonia against Valencia, and Crvena Zvezda against CSKA.
