BRATISLAVA, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia's premier football league Fortuna Liga continued after the winter break with attractive match-ups.

Trencin put on a high-scoring show against Michalovce and sent its opponents home with a shameful 8-1 defeat, switching fifth and eight positions in the league table as a result.

10th-ranked Sered managed to snap its four-game losing streak in a surprising 2-2 draw against fourth-ranked Ruzomberok.

Fortuna Liga's biggest rivals Bratislava and Trnava met for the 155th time and split the points after a thrilling although goalless derby.

After the first half of Trencin's match-up against Michalovce, the visitors still held a chance of success losing 1-2 but the floodgates opened in the second half and the home team's six consecutive goals left Michalovce down and out.

21-year-old Osman Bukari led Trencin's scoring with three goals, Ante Roguljic added two on a unique match of the 19th round and also the entire season.

In a battle of two bottom-ranked teams, Nitra split the points with last-placed Pohronie after a goalless draw.

The home team is starting a new chapter after new owners from Ukraine took over the team, bringing new coaches, players, and management on board.

Ruzomberok was first to strike in Sered but Alexander Mojzis' quick double booking late in the first half meant that the visitors had to finish the game shorthanded.

Sered entered the second act with a tying goal but Ruzomberok rallied and scored another go-ahead goal in the 68th minute only to see its efforts thwarted four minutes into the extra time when the 19-year-old substitute Matej Vuk tied the game once again to steal a point for the home team.

The biggest rivalry in Fortuna Liga boasts the west-Slovak derby between Bratislava and Trnava, two cities located only 40 kilometers apart.

In a highly anticipated and physical match, Trnava was only inches away from gifting the home fans a victory but Bogdan Mitrea failed to convert on a penalty early in the second half.

The visitors' goalkeeper Dominik Greif made a great save (and another late in the game) to secure Bratislava a point for the goalless draw. The team from Slovakia's capital is leading the standings with eight points ahead of Zilina.

Zilina's midfielder Lukas Janosik pulled his team to a 3-0 victory over seventh-ranked Zlate Moravce with two goals, fortifying Zilina's second place in the Fortuna Liga standings.

A couple of days before the 19th round, Senica also got a new owner but the takeover misfired and the situation in the club bordered on critical with players leaving and new management arriving.

Third-ranked Dunajska Streda also mixed things up and brought a new coach on board.

Despite the many problems, Senica arrived in Dunajska Streda with a determined squad and both sides pleased the fans with a match full of scoring opportunities that resulted in a goalless draw.
