BERLIN, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Newly promoted Union Berlin have clinched their second consecutive away victory as two second-half goals were enough to move 2-1 past Eintracht Frankfurt at the closer of the 23rd round in Bundesliga on Monday.

Both sides staged an evenly balanced first half but for all that goalscoring opportunities were at premium at both ends of the green.

The hosts failed to produce a single clearcut chance in the first 45 minutes meanwhile Union got two efforts on target as Yunus Malli tested Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp twice.

The match sparked into life after the restart as a blackout by Frankfurt's defence allowed

Sebastian Andersson to break the deadlock into the open goal with four minutes into the second half.

Frankfurt increased the pressure but lacked in accuracy as Dominik Kohr pulled wide from promising position before Goncalo Paciencia headed over the goal at the hour mark.

Even though the "Eagles" were on the front foot it were the visitors who doubled their lead in the 67th minute with great assistance of Evan Ndicka, who cleared Marcus Ingvartsen's square pass into the wrong goal.

Adi Hutter's men responded with furious attacks but Union custodian Rafal Gikiewicz was on guard to deny Paciencia with a foot parry following a one-on-one two minutes later.

The hosts pressed relentless and their efforts got rewarded in the 79th minute after substitute Andre Silva reduced the arrears with his back heel goal from close range.

Union survived Frankfurt's late onslaughtand protected their narrow advantage until the final whistle as Gikiewicz made a double save in the dying seconds of the match.

"I am very delighted with the outcome of the game. My team gave everything over ninety minutes. However, we were lucky in the closing stages," Union coach Urs Fischer said.

With the result, Union Berlin jump on the 10th place whereas Eintracht Frankfurt slump to the 11th position of the Bundesliga standings.
