体坛英语新闻:Ghana FA says leagues remain suspended over COVID-19
ACCRA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Wednesday announced that the 2019/20 football season remains on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The season was suspended on March 16 until further notice following the government's ban on all public gatherings.
The FA's executive council, at its meeting on Tuesday, decided that the status quo remains, the GFA said in a press release.
It said the executive council further decided that the association will continue to monitor the situation and would revisit it on June 30, after a careful assessment and evaluation of the issue and to take further decisions.
"The GFA will consider all the factors at the time and take all the necessary decisions to ensure the safety of all participants and the smooth completion of the season," it said.
The GFA has been running campaigns across platforms to create awareness since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Ghana.
