体坛英语新闻:Hoffenheim sack coach Schreuder
BERLIN, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Hoffenheim have parted company with head coach Alfred Schreuder citing irreconcilable differences, the club confirmed in an official statement on Tuesday.
With four rounds to play in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season, Hoffenheim sprung a surprise after ending the collaboration with Schreuder.
The 47-year-old, whose contract was stipulated until June 2022, and Hoffenheim have mutually agreed to void the contract with immediate effect.
"We had different views on important detailed issues, meaning that cooperation beyond the end of the season no longer makes sense," said Hoffenheim's director of professional football Alexander Rosen.
"We would like to thank Alfred for the work he has done and for the amicable solution that we have now reached," said managing director Dr. Peter Gorlich.
Schreuder joined the Bundesliga outfit in July 2019 from Ajax after the departure of Julian Nagelsmann. In 33 games as Hoffenheim coach he was only able to secure 14 wins, seven draws and 12 defeats.
"Unfortunately we couldn't agree on a common idea of how we want to lead Hoffenheim into the future. I regret this development. It is not uncommon in professional life to have different opinions. You then have to be honest and draw the appropriate conclusions," Schreuder told the club's official website.
For the last four games of the season, the team will be managed by interim coaches Matthias Kaltenbach, Michael Rechner, Timo Gross, Marcel Rapp and Kai Herdling.
Hoffenheim have two wins, two draws and a loss after the Bundesliga resumed from the COVID-19 shutdown. The club currently sit in seventh place in the Bundesliga standings and are gunning for a top-six finish.
