体坛英语新闻:Pirlo to extend stay at Juventus
MILAN, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Andrea Pirlo insisted on Saturday that he wants to secure a contract extension and stay at Juventus.
Pirlo, whose current contract with Juventus will expire in June, dismissed the speculations that he could leave on a free transfer for Real Madrid, where he'd reunite with Carlo Ancelotti.
"If I chose to leave Milan for Juve it was because I hoped to begin a winning era in a new club," he said.
The 34-year-old midfielder said he would discuss with Juventus about his contract extension soon.
"My intentions are clear, as I want to stay at Juventus. Over the next few days we'll meet with the club and there is optimism," he said.
He did not give a timetable of retirement.
"I still want to play. I don't know when I will retire, but as long as I have the desire to train and fight, I will certainly continue," he said.
