国际英语新闻:Former Panamanian leader allegedly arrives in France
PARIS, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The extradited former Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega has arrived at Paris Tuesday morning by an Air France flight, according to the source of the airport.
The AF695 he boarded from Miami airport in the United States on Monday afternoon arrived at the Paris aiport at 7:50 in the morning, according to airport officials who would like to be anonymous.
French Justice Ministry has confirmed the extradition earlier.
The Panamanian government announced late Monday that it was satisfied by U.S. extradition warrant signed by the Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Accused of laundering more than 3 million U.S. dollars in drug money, Noriega was facing trial that could decide his later life though the trial site has not been confirmed whether in France or Panama.
The ex-leader's French lawyer Yves Leberquier said his client can't not be tried by the French justice, arguing it's not in line with current regulation and situation and Noriega still enjoy the immunity as former head of a state.
