国际英语新闻:Helicopter crash kills 4 NATO soldiers in S. Afghanistan
KABUL, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Four NATO soldiers were killed Saturday when a plane crashed in the restive southern Afghanistan, the military alliance confirmed in a statement.
"Four International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members died today as a result of a plane crash in southern Afghanistan," the NATO-led ISAF said in the statement.
The brief statement did not reveal the nationalities of the victims under the ISAF policy.
"The cause of the crash is under investigation, however initial reporting indicates there was no enemy activity in the area at the time of the crash," the statement added.
Meantime, an Afghan official said that a coalition plane was crashed in Jamal Khil area of Shah Joe district in southern Zabul province at around 3 p.m. local time Saturday.
The Zabul deputy provincial governor, Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar, told Xinhua that the poor weather might have been the cause of the crash in the province 340 km south of Kabul
Up to three helicopters and a fighter jet with the coalition have gone down since beginning this year and nine people have been killed.
Two U.S. soldiers died when a helicopter went down in eastern Nangarhar province earlier this month.
